Cabaret and Circus with Miss Evey-Theodosia Hammond
The performance starts where the video “Night circus” stops. At the end of the tunnel. It is all about the journey of my inner self, as the tunnel symbolises the unconscious internal self.
Inside its darkness, I had only one weapon to fight with, My light. My light was my childhood captured in songs.
This show symbolises the middle point between death and dream, Neverland and Everland, my boy and my girl.
As a transgender I had to kill the boy inside me so that I can give birth to the woman.
The performance starts where the video “Night circus” stops. At the end of the tunnel. Is all about the journey in my inner self, as the tunnel symbolises the unconscious internal self.Inside its darkness I had only one weapon to fight,my light. And my light was my childhood captured in songs. I wanted to give re-birth to those songs based on my spoken poetry style of singing. But lullabies are as also a very interesting and dangerous way to fall asleep. As you listen to them you are starting creating pictures and then suddenly you enter another world.Without guarantee how is gonna be. The greek dark philosopher Heraclitus said that “death is all the things we see when we are awake,.. what we see when we are sleeping are dreams”…so this show symbolises as also this middle point between death and dream, neverland and everland, my boy and my girl, cause as a transgender I had to kill the boy inside me so that I can give birth to the woman. We want the audience to travel with us on that journey so that they can feel that travelling in your unconscious maybe is a dangerous thing to do but on the other hand there is no other way to find your real-self…if transition is a fact not only for transgenders but for all humans…then is the triumph of a woman who finally finds her unique way to fight her battle and finally face the world…dealing with the fact that she has to find her balance between internal and external reality…cause all bedtimes stories they can be read in reverse…..my grandmother used to sing me lullabies and telling stories from the place she was born …she couldn’t sing but she had her way…half speaking half singing…softly…so this show is a honour to her.”Let the mist be your guide…hold on to the rope”…..close your eyes and have no fear……now sleep.
